Resonant Spaces is an initiative created by composer Michael Gordon and the NYC ensemble Mantra Percussion to collect and celebrate the unique, unexpected, and often unknown resonant spaces all around us.

We are curious about unusual, often unknown, unappreciated, or unexpected places: the bottom of a stairwell in a parking garage; a curved, shear cliffside on a mountain trail; a tunnel in a park; a courtyard between buildings — we want to celebrate the everyday, quotidien, unseen places that thousands of people (or no people) pass by or through without thinking about or ever knowing what it sounds like. We are interested in how sound propagates through and is enhanced by physical spaces that interact with the sound itself and with us: the listener.
